Different Ways of Experiencing Generative AI Tools
 

1. HKUST GenAI Platform provided by ITSC
    
   • Sign in to HKUST GenAI Plaform (the Platform) at https://genai.ust.hk with a HKUST staff or student account.
   • Most of the above public chatbots have stated in their usage terms that chat data may be used for future training of the AI models. The chat content is also uploaded to cloud. This is a concern if users are using it for confidential HKUST documents.
   • The Platform provides functionality similar to the public OpenAI ChatGPT, but with the chat data protection following our Cybersecurity guidelines.

2. Microsoft Copilot
    
   • Accessed from https://copilot.microsoft.com
   • Refer to Usage Tips on Microsoft Copilot
   • Bing is built on the more advanced GPT-4 model, and it is free.  
   • Bing incorporates ChatGPT AI into browsing and search. This allows the engine to grab new knowledge beyond Sep 2021 by searching up-to-dated information from Internet. Edge browser also allows you to open PDF file for the AI engine to digest.  These features significantly expand the usage scenarios of Bing when compared with ChatGPT.
   • Users are advised to login to Microsoft Copilot with ITSC username and password to enable data protection. Without the protection, users are advised to desensitize their data before submitting any data to Microsoft Copilot. 
     
      
3. ChatGPT Portal provided by OpenAI
    
   • Accessed from https://chat.openai.com/; at this moment ChatGPT service is not yet directly available in Hong Kong, and you cannot access it from a Hong Kong IP address.
   • It is the most hyped AI chatbot called ChatGPT which is hosted by OpenAI. It supports both GPT-3.5 and the more advanced GPT-4 language model.
     
      
4. Poe Portal developed by Quora
    
   • Accessed from https://poe.com/; also available through the iOS app called "Poe - Fast AI Chat"
   • It allows you to access a range of AI bots supported by different language models, including those developed by other AI companies.
   • Registration is by email account.  
   • There is no region restriction.
   • It is basically free except for users who need premium usage of the high-end language models.
   • It provides the experience very similar to OpenAI ChatGPT and is a good choice to get start with.
   • Note that its knowledge of ChatGPT is up to September 2021 when its training was cut off.
