eduroam Wi-Fi (SSID = eduroam)
eduroam Wi-Fi in HKUST campus provides secure wireless Internet and network access to students, staff, and educational guests. Education Roaming (eduroam) is a globally recognized wireless service that utilizes IEEE 802.1X technology to provide free, easy, and flexible Wi-Fi access to educational institutions across the world.
Joining this service assists HKUST staff and students when they visit eduroam member institutions, including most tertiary institutions in Hong Kong; and visitors from other eduroam member institutions when at HKUST. In either case, you only need your home institution account and password and don’t need to set up a guest account. Connections are secured by 802.1X authentication and data encryption.
HKUST users must have a valid ITSC Network Account and be visiting an eduroam member institution. Visitors must be equipped with a Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) wireless device and must configure their device to support 802.1X authentication. Alumni Wi-Fi (SSID = Alumni)
The University provides secure Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) wireless access to alumni when they are visiting public areas of HKUST. Connections are secured by 802.1X authentication and data encryption. To use the Wi-Fi service, alumni must:
- Have an Alumni account
- Perform a one-time procedure to activate the alumni Wi-Fi service
- Have wireless devices equipped with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n)
- Configure the wireless devices to support 802.1X authentication

CSL Wi-Fi (SSID = Universities via CSL)
This collaborative agreement with major telecommunications provider CSL provides HKUST staff and students with free, secure wireless internet connection at CSL hotspots; and gives CSL Wi-Fi customers access to the internet in public areas of HKUST campus.
HKUST users must have a valid ITSC Network Account and make sure they are near a CSL hotspot to use this service. CSL users must be equipped with a Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) wireless device and should refer to CSL for further details. Y5ZONE Wi-Fi (SSID = Universities via Y5ZONE)
This collaborative service agreement enables HKUST staff and students to receive free and secure wireless internet connection at Y5ZONE hotshots; and gives Y5ZONE Wi-Fi customers access to the internet in public areas of HKUST campus.
HKUST users must have a valid ITSC Network Account and make sure they are near a Y5ZONE hotspot to use this service. Y5ZONE users must be equipped with a Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) wireless device and should refer to Y5ZONE for further details. Wi-Fi.HK via HKUST (SSID = Wi-Fi.HK via HKUST)
This service is a collaboration with Hong Kong Government to promote the common Wi-Fi brand. Visitors can surf the Internet in public areas of HKUST campus.
The service is free of charge and does not require any registration. In order to use this service, the users must agree to HKUST’s Acceptable Usage Policy.
