Speeding up Web Access for e-Learning from Mainland
Dear students and colleagues,
If you are currently located in Mainland China and experiencing slow Internet performance when accessing online resources in HKUST Campus, please read on…
With the help from colleagues in Nansha, ITSC has set up a “proxy service” that offers an alternate data path for mainland users to reach online resources of HKUST (e.g. Canvas, library electronic resources, departmental websites, etc.). Through the use of a dedicated cross-border link, Internet performance is hopefully better. For details on how to use this path, please refer to the webpage:
Please note that this setup will NOT help access to websites blocked in Mainland (e.g. Google, Facebook, etc.). Also, please understand that Internet performance can fluctuate from time to time and we highly recommend you to test it in advance before crucial activities. To ensure fair and effective uses of this shared network link, bandwidth control will be implemented whenever necessary. For enquiry or other mainland access problems, please contact ITSC Service Desk (2358-6200) or send an email to cchelp@ust.hk. Thank you for your attention.
Best Regards,
