Reminder: Decommissioning of sMobileNet Wi-Fi Service on 29th February 2016

ITSC introduced sMobileNet back in 2003 to provide a secure wireless environment for all HKUST staff and students on campus. Later in 2007 we joined the eduroam which is an initiative to provide roaming Wi-Fi access among thousands of educational institutions in 74 countries worldwide.

As part of our efforts to further simplify wireless network access for our users, ITSC has integrated our sMobileNet service into the eduroam service. Now with just a single setup for eduroam, our users can have Wi-Fi access on campus, and when we visit local tertiary institutions and other eduroam member institutions around the world by connecting to the eduroam SSID.

Please switch to using eduroam for Wi-Fi access as soon as possible, as we will be phasing out sMobileNet on 29th February 2016.

Setting up eduroam Wi-Fi service is basically same as sMobileNet, except that you should now append “@ust.hk” to your username during logon for seamless access in all eduroam sites. For setup details, please refer to our eduroam Wi-Fi Service Configuration Guides.
