Compulsory requiring HKUST Single-Sign-On with ZOOM

To further strengthen the security of ZOOM Meeting, the University will compulsory require Single-Sign-On with HKUST account for ZOOM meeting service starting 8-May-2020. After this date, HKUST users will need to use Sign-In with SSO on their ZOOM software and use their HKUST account with 2FA to authenticate the ZOOM meeting service. Please note that previously available sign-in methods like Email address & password, Facebook or Google account sign-in will no longer be supported. This enhancement affects only the sign-in methods to HKUST ZOOM accounts. It does not affect external parties from joining HKUST ZOOM meetings. For further instruction on how to install and configure your ZOOM client software on your Windows, Mac, iOS and Android devices, please refer to our ZOOM client installation guide here.

Please also note that ZOOM has recently release v5 of its ZOOM client Software which supports more secure encryption. As part of ZOOM’s security enhancement plans, using the new encryption to join any ZOOM meeting will be compulsory after 30-May-2020. Therefore you are strongly recommended to upgrade your ZOOM client software as soon as possible.
